The AndyMark EVO Shifter Short Keyed Shaft, StageA 2 - 04.77:1 Ratio, StageB 2 - 16.37:1 Ratio represents a significant advancement in shifting transmission gearboxes. This two-speed, shift-on-the-fly gearbox incorporates a refined 4-tooth dog shifting mechanism, allowing for seamless transitions between gears. It is compatible with two CIM or NEO motors, and offers flexibility with two or three interior stages and various 1/2 inch output shafts. The gearbox is delivered assembled, though motors are not pre-installed.
Several enhancements distinguish this model from previous iterations. The dog gear now features four dogs per face, enhancing durability by providing more material around the dog gear screw. The use of AMPCO® 18 Bronze for the dog gear material offers properties akin to stainless steel, with added lubricity for smoother shifting. A robust shift block assembly with a larger bearing and threaded steel housing is included, and the input stage utilizes 32 DP gears with a 15 tooth pinion gear, facilitating a high first stage reduction.
The gearbox allows users to independently select high and low ratios, providing flexibility beyond fixed spreads. It supports multiple encoder options, including the US Digital E4T and the CTRE SRX mag encoder. Weight reduction features have been integrated into the gears and plates, and the design allows for easy disassembly and reassembly without concern for gear orientation. An optional third stage offers additional ratio choices, and the gearbox can be mounted to an AM14U family chassis or a 2"x1" box tube frame.
The EVO Shifter employs a pneumatic shift method, utilizing a spring-extend pneumatic cylinder for shifting, which can be executed while a robot is in motion. The cylinder defaults to "Ratio A" in the absence of air pressure, ensuring continued operation. Proper greasing is essential for optimal performance and longevity, with a recommended break-in period before applying grease. The encoder ratio for programming is 3:1 between the Output Shaft and Encoder Shaft for two-stage versions.
