Enhances design flexibility for teams
The AndyMark PicoBox Twin Servo is a versatile gearbox specifically engineered for FIRST Tech Challenge teams, offering a robust solution for fine-tuning the output speed and torque of various mechanisms and drivetrains. This gearbox is designed to integrate seamlessly with other building systems familiar to these teams, featuring a base 16 mm center-to-center hole pattern. The reversible flanges maintain this pattern, allowing for flexible configurations. The gearbox employs a single reduction, double servo input system utilizing durable steel 32DP gears. It accommodates two standard servos, such as HiTec or Futaba, which can be installed on either side of the robust steel 6 mm D output shaft. Notably, the servos can operate independently, providing the flexibility of a double servo mount without the need for linkage.
The gearbox offers three gear ratio options, enabling users to experiment and understand the impact of gear ratio changes on performance. This adaptability makes it an excellent choice for teams looking to optimize their designs. The gearbox does not include servos, allowing users to select the most suitable ones for their specific applications. It is compatible with servos featuring a 24 Tooth C1 Spline and fitting within the specified servo cavity dimensions.
For optimal performance and longevity, it is recommended to use grease, such as red tacky grease, during operation. A 'run in' period of continuous operation without grease is advised to ensure smooth gear operation. Periodic greasing of the gear teeth is essential to maintain smooth functionality.
