Hi, I work in a lab at a university, helping students with 3rd and 4th year physics projects. USB micro breakout boards are excellent for providing 5VDC power supplies to electronic breadboards. Just plug a usb micro breakout board onto an electronics breadboard and plug a USB charger cable into it and you are good to go. Other uses of these boards is to provide a connector for shielded cables for circuit projects that are sensitive to electronic noise. We've wired up a USB-type A Female connector breakout board on one end, and added a usb-micro breakout board on the other and use USB cables to deliver power and signals from function generators and power supplies to our project boards.
