The AndyMark Flyer Overdrive Gearbox, Sport Gearbox Input, 2:50:1 / 1:2.50 is an innovative gearbox designed for FRC applications, offering both overdrive and underdrive capabilities within a single unit. This versatility allows users to configure the gearbox to either increase or decrease the output shaft speed relative to the input, depending on their specific needs. The gearbox features a 1/2 inch hex bore on both gears, enabling easy configuration changes without additional purchases.
The gearbox includes a short 1/2 inch hex output shaft that extends approximately 2 inches from either face, with the option to replace it with any Toughbox output shaft. The design accommodates a pass-through shaft setup by replacing the rear bearing with another 1/2 inch hex bearing, allowing for customization without machining. This feature is particularly useful for creating roller intakes when combined with compatible wheels.
Mounting the gearbox is straightforward, thanks to its "wings" that fit over any 1 inch wide extrusion, such as Peanut or Box Tube, facilitating easy attachment to a robot's frame. The gearbox offers three hardware input options: CIM/NEO, Falcon, and Sport Gearbox. The Sport Gearbox option provides an additional stage of reduction and secure mounting, making it suitable for mechanisms like climbers. These options modify the hardware included with the Flyer but do not come with a motor or planetary gearbox.
For those seeking custom gear ratios, the gearbox can be purchased without gears, allowing users to supply their own. It supports any two 20DP, 1/2 inch wide, 1/2 inch hex bore gears totaling 70 teeth. Additionally, the empty shell can serve as a mounting point for an extended shaft, enabling a symmetrical setup.
