The DFRobot Fermion: ADXL345 Digital Triaxial Acceleration Sensor (Breakout) (±16G) is a compact and efficient sensor designed for precise measurement of acceleration across three axes. This device is equipped with a high-resolution 13-bit measurement capability, allowing it to detect acceleration up to ±16 g. The digital output data is formatted in a 16-bit two's complement and can be accessed via either SPI or I2C digital interfaces, providing flexibility in integration with various systems.

This sensor is particularly adept at measuring both static acceleration, such as gravity in tilt-sensing applications, and dynamic acceleration resulting from motion or shock. Its high resolution, with a sensitivity of 4 mg per least significant bit, enables it to detect inclination changes of less than 1.0°, making it suitable for applications requiring precise tilt measurements.

The ADXL345 includes several advanced sensing functions. It can detect activity and inactivity by monitoring motion levels on any axis, and it features tap sensing for single and double taps, as well as free-fall detection. These functions can be configured to trigger one of two interrupt output pins, enhancing its utility in various applications. Additionally, the sensor incorporates a 32-level FIFO buffer, which allows for efficient data storage and reduces the need for constant host processor intervention.

The device is designed with low power consumption in mind, featuring intelligent motion-based power management. This includes threshold sensing and active acceleration measurement, which operate with minimal power dissipation, making it ideal for battery-powered applications.
