The Motoron M2H18v18 Dual High-Power Motor Controller Kit for RPi w/ Connectors is a sophisticated device engineered to facilitate the effortless control of DC motors via a Raspberry Pi, specifically Model B+ or newer, through an I²C interface. It is compatible with motor supply voltages ranging from 6.5 to 30 V and is capable of delivering continuous output currents of up to 18 A for each motor. This particular model includes aluminum standoffs, header pins, and terminal block options, which are provided but not pre-soldered.

The M2H18v18 controller is a member of the esteemed Motoron M2H family of dual high-power motor controller add-on boards. These controllers are crafted to stack atop a Raspberry Pi, akin to a HAT (Hardware Attached on Top). The design allows for the stacking of multiple controllers, thereby enabling the independent control of numerous motors. Communication between the Raspberry Pi and the Motoron is facilitated via I²C, requiring only two GPIO pins, irrespective of the number of Motorons connected.

The M2H18v18 controller is compatible with motor supply voltages from 6.5 V to 30 V, with the absolute maximum not intended for use with 24 V batteries. It can deliver continuous output currents of up to 18 A per motor. The M2H18v18 is distinguishable from other M2H controllers by its smaller discrete MOSFETs and the number 150 displayed on the tall silver electrolytic capacitors.

This model is a kit that includes, but does not pre-solder, the following connectors: three 2-pin 5mm screw terminal blocks and one 1x25 breakaway male header, which can be cut or broken into smaller header strips for installation as desired. It also comes with a set of four M2.5 standoffs of 11 mm length, screws, and nuts for securing the board at the appropriate height. The M2H18v18 is also available with connectors pre-soldered or as a standalone board without connectors.
