The Motoron M2H24v14 Dual High-Power Motor Controller for Raspberry Pi (No Connectors/Standoffs) is a sophisticated device designed to manage DC motors via a Raspberry Pi (Model B+ or newer) through an I²C interface. It is capable of supporting motor supply voltages ranging from 6.5 to 40 V and delivering continuous output currents up to 14 A for each motor. This particular model is solely the motor controller, devoid of any connectors or mounting hardware.
The M2H24v14 controller is a member of the Motoron M2H family of dual high-power motor controller add-on boards. These controllers are engineered to stack atop a Raspberry Pi, akin to a HAT (Hardware Attached on Top), and permit stacking of multiple controllers, thereby enabling independent control of a multitude of motors. The Raspberry Pi communicates with the Motoron via I²C, necessitating only two GPIO pins, irrespective of the number of Motorons connected.
This controller supports motor supply voltages from 6.5 V to 40 V (absolute maximum, not intended for use with 36 V batteries) and can deliver continuous output currents up to 14 A per motor. The M2H24v14 is distinguishable from other M2H controllers by its smaller discrete MOSFETs and the number 100 on top of the tall silver electrolytic capacitors.
The controller is equipped with two motor control channels for independent control of up to two bidirectional brushed DC motors. It also features reverse-voltage protection on the motor power supply, a logic voltage range of 3.0 to 5 V, and a control interface with an I²C clock speed of up to 400 kHz. Other notable features include optional cyclic redundancy checking (CRC), configurable motion parameters, current sensing, configurable hardware current limiting, a command timeout feature, configurable automatic error response, motor power supply (VIN) voltage measurement, optional pins for powering the Raspberry Pi from reverse-protected motor power through an external regulator (not included), two status LEDs, motor direction indicator LEDs, and a Motoron Python library for simplified use with Python or MicroPython.
Please note that this controller is not intended for use with 36 V batteries. This version does not include any connectors or mounting hardware.
