Description

  • Motoron M2S18v20 Dual High-Power Motor Controller Shield for Arduino (No Connectors)
  • Manages two high-power DC motors from an Arduino via an I²C interface
  • Accommodates motor supply voltages from 6.5 to 30 V
  • Delivers continuous output currents of up to 20 A for each motor
  • Simplified usage with the Motoron Arduino library

The Motoron M2S18v20 Dual High-Power Motor Controller for Arduino (No Connectors) is engineered to manage two high-power DC motors from an Arduino or a board compatible with Arduino via an I²C interface. It accommodates motor supply voltages ranging from 6.5 V to 30 V and can deliver continuous output currents of up to 20 A for each motor. This model is solely the motor controller, devoid of header pins or terminal blocks.

The Motoron M2S series of dual high-power motor controller shields facilitates the independent control of two bidirectional, brushed DC motors with an Arduino or a board compatible with it, such as the A-Star 32U4 Prime. In contrast to most motor drivers and motor driver shields, the Motoron does not necessitate any PWM outputs or timers on the Arduino. Instead, the Arduino interacts with the Motoron via I²C, thus only requiring two I/O lines.

The M2S18v20 shield accommodates motor supply voltages ranging from 6.5 V to 30 V (absolute maximum, not intended for use with 24 V batteries) and can deliver continuous output currents of up to 20 A for each motor. The M2S18v20 can be differentiated from other M2S shields by its larger discrete MOSFETs and the number 150 on top of the tall silver electrolytic capacitors.

The Motoron Arduino library simplifies the process of using the Motoron with an Arduino or a compatible controller. The driver’s printed circuit board is designed to dissipate heat from the MOSFETs, but performance can be enhanced by adding a heat sink or airflow.

For high-current installations, it is recommended to solder the motor and power supply wires directly instead of going through the 5mm blue terminal blocks, which are rated for up to 16 A.
