The Pololu 100:1 Micro Metal Gearmotor HPCB 12V w/ 12 CPR Encoder, Side Connector is a compact brushed DC motor equipped with a robust metal gearbox. It features a 10×12 mm gearbox cross-section and a 9 mm long, 3 mm diameter D-shaped output shaft. This gearmotor is integrated with a two-channel incremental Hall effect encoder, which detects the rotation of a magnetic disk attached to the motor shaft. The encoder provides a resolution of 12 counts per revolution (CPR) of the motor shaft, which can be multiplied by the gearbox reduction factor to determine the counts per revolution of the gearbox output shaft.
The encoder is equipped with a 6-pin JST SH-style male connector, compatible with corresponding cables and connector boards. The side connector orientation is perpendicular to the motor, ensuring versatile mounting options. The motor terminals are accessible via red and black wires when used with appropriate JST cables, allowing for flexible power connections. The motor is designed to operate in both directions by alternating the polarity of the power supplied to the motor leads.
The sensors are powered through designated pins, with the quadrature outputs providing digital signals that indicate motor direction and speed. The built-in hysteresis in the sensors' comparators prevents false signals, ensuring reliable performance. The motor operates at a voltage of 12 V, with a no-load speed of 330 RPM and a stall torque of 1.3 kg⋅cm. The gear ratio is 100.37:1, featuring brass plates for enhanced durability.
