The Pololu 298:1 Micro Metal Gearmotor HP 6V w/ 12 CPR Encoder, Side Connector is a compact brushed DC motor featuring a robust metal gearbox with a cross section of 10×12 mm. It is equipped with a 9 mm long, 3 mm diameter D-shaped output shaft. This gearmotor integrates a two-channel incremental Hall effect encoder, which detects the rotation of a magnetic disk on the motor shaft's rear protrusion. The encoder provides a resolution of 12 counts per revolution, enhancing precision in motion control applications.
The encoder is connected via a 6-pin JST SH-style male connector, compatible with corresponding cables and connector boards. The side connector orientation is perpendicular to the motor, facilitating versatile installation options. The motor operates efficiently at a voltage of 6 V, delivering high power with precious metal brushes, and achieves a no-load speed of 100 RPM while drawing 100 mA. It is capable of handling a stall torque of 4.0 kg⋅cm (55 oz⋅in) with a current draw of 1.6 A.
The quadrature outputs A and B are digital signals that indicate motor direction and speed, with built-in hysteresis to prevent signal errors. These signals are square waves with a 50% duty cycle and are approximately 90° out of phase, ensuring reliable performance in various applications. Note: A cable is not included with this gearmotor.
