The Pololu 30:1 Micro Metal Gearmotor MP 6V w/ 12 CPR Encoder, Back Connector is a compact brushed DC motor featuring a robust metal gearbox with a cross-section of 10×12 mm. It is equipped with a 9 mm long, 3 mm diameter D-shaped output shaft. This gearmotor integrates a two-channel incremental Hall effect encoder, which detects the rotation of a magnetic disk on the motor shaft's rear protrusion. The encoder provides a resolution of 12 counts per revolution (CPR) of the motor shaft, which can be adjusted by the gearbox reduction factor to determine the CPR of the gearbox output shaft.
The encoder is connected via a 6-pin JST SH-style male connector, compatible with specific cables and connector boards. The back connector orientation aligns parallel to the motor. The motor terminals are accessible through designated pins and can be connected using appropriate cables. The motor is designed for bidirectional operation by alternating the power polarity to the motor leads.
The sensors are powered through specific pins, with a voltage range of 2.7 V to 18 V. The quadrature outputs provide digital signals that indicate motor direction and speed, with built-in hysteresis to prevent signal errors. The motor operates at a medium power level with precious metal brushes, offering a gear ratio of 29.86:1 and a no-load performance of 720 RPM at 70 mA.
