The Pololu 5:1 Micro Metal Gearmotor MP 6V w/ 12 CPR Encoder, Side Connector is a compact brushed DC motor featuring a robust metal gearbox with a cross section of 10×12 mm. It is equipped with a 9 mm long, 3 mm diameter D-shaped output shaft. This gearmotor integrates a two-channel incremental Hall effect encoder, which detects the rotation of a magnetic disk on the motor shaft's rear protrusion. The encoder provides a resolution of 12 counts per revolution (CPR) of the motor shaft, which can be adjusted by the gearbox reduction factor to determine the CPR of the gearbox output shaft.

The encoder is connected via a 6-pin JST SH-style male connector, compatible with corresponding cables and connector boards. The side connector orientation is perpendicular to the motor, ensuring versatile mounting options. The motor terminals are accessible through designated pins, allowing for bidirectional operation by alternating the power polarity. The sensors are powered through specific pins, with the quadrature outputs delivering digital signals that indicate motor direction and speed.

This medium-power motor operates at 6V and features precious metal brushes, offering a gear ratio of approximately 4.995:1 with brass plates. It delivers a no-load performance of 4400 RPM at 80 mA, with a stall extrapolation of 0.06 kg⋅cm and 0.67 A. Note: A cable is not included with this gearmotor.
