The Pololu 50:1 Micro Metal Gearmotor LP 6V w/ 12 CPR Encoder, Back Connector is a compact brushed DC motor equipped with a metal gearbox and an integrated encoder. The gearbox features a cross-section of 10×12 mm and a D-shaped output shaft measuring 9 mm in length and 3 mm in diameter. This motor is designed to provide precise control over rotational movements, making it suitable for applications requiring accurate positioning and speed regulation.
The integrated encoder is a two-channel incremental Hall effect type, which detects the rotation of a magnetic disk attached to the motor shaft. It offers a resolution of 12 counts per revolution (CPR) of the motor shaft, which translates to approximately 617 CPR for the gearbox output shaft when considering the 50:1 reduction ratio. The encoder is connected via a 6-pin JST SH-style male connector, oriented parallel to the motor, known as the Back Connector.
The motor is powered through designated pins, with the sensors receiving power from a voltage range of 2.7 V to 18 V. The encoder outputs digital signals that indicate motor direction and speed, with built-in hysteresis to prevent erroneous signals. This gearmotor is engineered to operate efficiently in both directions by alternating the polarity of the power supplied to the motor leads. Note: A cable is not included with this gearmotor.
