The Pololu 9V Step-up/Step-Down Voltage Regulator S18V20F9 is a versatile switching regulator designed to maintain a stable 9V output from a wide range of input voltages, spanning from 3V to 30V. Utilizing a single-ended primary-inductor converter (SEPIC) topology, this regulator efficiently adjusts the input voltage to the desired output, achieving typical efficiencies between 80% and 90%. It is particularly suitable for battery-powered applications where the input voltage may fluctuate above or below the target output voltage as the battery discharges.
This regulator is equipped with several protective features, including reverse-voltage protection, over-current protection, thermal shutdown, and an under-voltage lockout that activates when the input voltage falls below 2.5V. The device is capable of delivering an output current of approximately 2A when the input voltage is close to the output voltage, although this may vary based on environmental conditions and other factors.
The board is designed for ease of integration, offering multiple connection options through terminal blocks or header pins, and includes mounting holes for secure installation. The ENABLE pin allows the regulator to enter a low-power state, significantly reducing quiescent current consumption. This feature can be left unutilized if not required.
