Description

This product has been discontinued and replaced by a superior model. Find out more about the new RPLIDAR A2M12 360° Laser Range Scanner.

The RPLIDAR A2 360° Laser Scanner is the next generation of 360 -egree 2D lidars. The RPLIDAR A2 adopts low cost laser triangulation measurement system developed by SLAMTEC, and therefore has excellent performance in all kinds of indoor environments and outdoor environments without direct sunlight exposure.

It can take up to 8000 samples of laser ranging per second with high rotation speed. And equipped with SLAMTEC patented OPTMAG technology, it breakouts the life limitation of traditional LIDAR system so as to work stably for a long time.

RPLIDAR A2M8 360° Laser Scanner

The system can perform 2D 360-degree scan within a 12-meter range. The generated 2D point cloud data can be used in mapping, localization and object/environment modeling.

Before leaving the factory, every RPLIDAR A2 has passed strict testing to ensure the laser output power meets the standards of FDA Class I.

The typical scanning frequency of the RPLIDAR A2 360° Laser Scanner is 10hz (600rpm). Under this condition, the resolution will be 0.9°. The actual scanning frequency can be freely adjusted within the 5-15 hz range according to the requirements of users.

RPLIDAR A2M8 360° Laser Scanner

The RPLIDAR A2 consists of a range scanner core and mechanical powering parts which makes the core rotate at a high speed. When it functions normally, the scanner will rotate and scan clockwise. And users can get the range scan data via the communication interface of the RPLIDAR and control the start, stop and rotating speed of the rotatation motor via PWM.

RPLIDAR A2M8 360° Laser Scanner

The RPLIDAR A2 comes with a rotation speed detection and adaptive system. The system will adjust the angular resolution automatically according to the actual rotating speed.

Reported Weight is Shipping Weight. If you're an engineer you should be fuming...

Don't fret ladies and gents, this beautiful sensor actually weighs 195 grams. It Weighs 200 grams when you connect the small power board. It only ever weighs 350 grams inside the box with all the documentation and packaging. I am currently using this sensor for my Undergraduate Design Capstone on a Solo 3DR Drone for local obstacle avoidance.

Great

The Lidar is easy to setup, to program, and have good support for ROS

Good lidar

Its pricey but- I tried the competition and it was hardly usable half the rate and cheap slip ring. this guy seems pretty solid with no slip ring to wear after a randomly short amount of time. I have only tested functionality but this seems better than advertised!

Great product, be careful not to break usb plug

Works as advertised. USB adapter board is a bit fragile and you can't order a new one separately.
