Description
Dual Motor Controller: 5A, 6-18V
R/C control with servo leads
Synchronous regenerative drive
Ultra-sonic switching frequency
Thermal and over-current protection
Lithium battery protection mode
The Sabertooth Dual 5A R/C 6-18V Regenerative Motor Driver (R/C) specifically optimized for use in radio controlled vehicles. It is suitable for small robots, cars and boats, and especially well suited for the Antweight and Beetleweight classes of fighting robots.
Out of the box, it can supply two DC brushed motors with up to 5A each. Peak currents of 10A are achievable for a few seconds. Overcurrent and thermal protection means you'll never have to worry about killing the driver with accidental stalls or by hooking up too big a motor.
Features
Includes exponential control, autocalibration and built-in mixing.
The operating mode is set with the onboard DIP switches.
Synchronous regenerative motor driver
Thermal and overcurrent protection
Built in 5V BEC can provide power to a microcontroller or R/C receiver.
Lithium cutoff mode allows safe operation with lithium ion / polymer packs
Bought to be put into one of Lesu Skid Steer. I love how it was simple/ small to install. Fits perfectly inside. Works perfectly as well. Enough to power the dual-motor with no issues. Overall would buy again if needed.

It's an OK system
I used this with a Tamiya dual motor gearbox. While this did provide the power to the small motors that are in that kit, it was prone to brown-outs. In addition to the brownouts, The unit frequently overheated, & the thermal protection would activate. That's a GOOD thing it has, BUT......with those small motors, it's also a BAD thing. They're so tiny, they shouldn't overheat the controller. Perhaps I can re-purpose the 2X5 to power the linear actuators on the Bruder D5 conversion to a working RC that I'm building, rather then as the power for the drive motors in the gearbox. HOPEFULLY by using this unit in an application that's not under constant load, I can make use of it.

Small and simple to wire
It works well, gets very hot though. A lil tricky to figure out the dip switches.

not best
Not the Best Controller. Battery eliminator circuit has poor performance. If you plan to implement 1 or 2 servos to your receiver, good luck . I should have tried the 1amp bec version of this controller. It would be nice if they provided more info regarding the specs of the bec

Speed control
Good product. Easy to hook up and does what it is supposed to do. A little pricey but worth it.
