The Sequent Microsystems 4 Serial Ports RS485 & RS232 Stackable HAT for Raspberry Pi is an advanced expansion card designed to enhance the connectivity of Raspberry Pi devices. This HAT provides four serial ports, enabling seamless integration with various serial devices such as sensors and industrial equipment. It supports both RS485 and RS422 communication protocols, offering flexibility for diverse applications. The card can be configured to operate with either three RS232 ports and one RS485 port, or two RS232 ports and two RS485 ports, depending on the user's requirements.
This stackable HAT is compatible with all Raspberry Pi versions from 4 to 5 and can be used in conjunction with other HATs, although only one card can be used per Raspberry Pi. The device utilizes the serial ports available on the Raspberry Pi GPIO interface, ensuring efficient communication without the need for additional software, as drivers are included in the Linux kernel. The HAT is equipped with a DIP-switch for RS485 terminators and configuration, eliminating the need for jumpers.
