The Sequent Microsystems 8 24-Bit Analog Inputs DAQ 8-Layer Stackable HAT for RPi is designed to enhance the Raspberry Pi's capabilities by providing eight 24-bit precision analog inputs. This HAT allows for the reading of differential or common ground analog signals with a data rate of up to 64kbps. It is capable of stacking up to eight layers on a single Raspberry Pi, enabling synchronized data acquisition across multiple channels through a master-slave configuration. The device includes an RS-485 port for extensive expandability and features a real-time clock with battery backup to maintain time during power outages.

The HAT is compatible with all Raspberry Pi versions, from Zero to 5, and utilizes two GPIO pins for I2C communication, leaving the majority of GPIO pins available for other uses. It also includes a hardware watchdog to reset the Raspberry Pi in case of software issues, and TVS diodes on all inputs to protect against external electrostatic discharge. The device can be powered by either a 5V or a 12V-24V DC power supply, providing up to 4A continuous and 5A peak power to the Raspberry Pi.

Additional features include pluggable connectors for ease of use when stacking multiple cards, a general-purpose push-button for shutting down the Raspberry Pi, and programmable LEDs for input status indication. The HAT supports a wide range of input voltages and offers software-selectable input ranges. It also includes a command line driver, Python library, Node-Red nodes, OpenPLC module, and CODESYS library for versatile programming options. Note: Ensure proper handling to avoid accidental shorts and external electrostatic discharge.
