The Sherline CNC Rotary Controller w/ Power Supply facilitates the transformation of a CNC Rotary Table with a stepper motor into a Rotary Table with Indexer. This controller is specifically designed for rotary tables and should not be mistaken for a linear controller. It features a microprocessor unit equipped with a numeric input keypad, allowing for straightforward operation without the need for a separate computer. Users can input the number of steps per revolution or degrees per step, and the table advances to the next position with precision at the touch of a single key. In the event of an error, previous positions can be accurately recalled with ease.
The controller offers a basic resolution of 28,800 steps per revolution, with an accuracy of ±0.006° per step, enabling precise machining tasks such as creating gears with unusual numbers of teeth. The computations are performed internally to ensure high accuracy and prevent cumulative errors. This stand-alone unit includes all necessary components to simplify complex indexing tasks. Additionally, it can be integrated with existing CNC controls to function in tandem with those systems, allowing for sequential actions through daisy-chaining with other units.
The rotary table can also be combined with Sherline’s linear controller to achieve coordinated rotary and linear movements, facilitating sophisticated operations like gear cutting without requiring extensive CNC programming knowledge.
