The Waveshare 4-Channel RS485 to RJ45 Ethernet Serial Server w/ Common Network Port is a compact, multi-functional device that serves as a data acquirer or an Internet of Things (IoT) gateway. It is equipped with four channels of RS485 and an Ethernet port, with an optional Power over Ethernet (PoE) version. This device is ideal for various applications such as data acquisition, IoT gateway, safety and security IoT, and intelligent instrument monitoring.

Each of the four RS485 channels can operate independently, ensuring efficient data transmission without mutual interference. This device integrates several functions, including a serial server, Modbus gateway, MQTT gateway, and RS485 to JSON converter. It utilizes a screw terminal for stable power input and features a wall-mount and rail-mount case design for easy installation and rapid deployment.

Two versions of this product are available: one with a common network port and electrical isolation, and another with a PoE network port and electrical isolation. This device supports bi-directional transparent data transmission between RS485 and Ethernet, with a communication interface consisting of four RS485 ports and one Ethernet port. It also features power isolation, signal isolation, and compliance with IEEE 802.3af for PoE support.

Multiple configuration methods are supported, including web browser configuration, dynamic IP acquisition via DHCP, and DNS protocol-connected domain server address. The device also boasts multiple protection features, such as an onboard power supply and signal isolation, a built-in transient voltage suppression tube, a resettable fuse, and a protection diode.

It is housed in a durable aluminum alloy enclosure, treated with sandblasting and anodic oxidation for a solid, stylish finish.
