Enhances maneuverability with slim 4mm and 7.6mm diameters
Ensures visibility with yellow polyurethane foam jacket
The Fathom ROV Tether (ROV-Ready) (Twisted Pairs - 4) (150 M 492 ft) is a professional-grade, neutrally buoyant tether designed for robust performance in ROV and subsea applications. This tether combines exceptional strength and durability with advanced electrical characteristics, making it suitable for a wide range of underwater tasks. It features a pre-installed Binder 77 connector and WetLink Penetrator, ensuring seamless integration with various ROV systems and watertight enclosures.
Engineered specifically for ROVs, the Fathom Tether is embedded with water-blocking fibers to prevent leaks and boasts a breaking strength of 3-35 lb. Its slim diameters of 4mm and 7.6mm make it significantly more compact than most comparable ROV tethers, reducing drag and enhancing maneuverability during deep, high-current, and long-distance dives. The tether includes one or four unshielded twisted pairs (UTP) of 26AWG wire, arranged similarly to Cat5 networking cables to resist cross-talk.
The tethers slim profile not only minimizes drag but also enhances portability and ease of handling. A hundred-meter length of this tether weighs just 3 lb (1.4 kg), making it manageable by hand. However, due to its design with only two wires, it is limited to primary communication for the BlueROV2 and is not suitable for applications requiring additional tether pairs.
Constructed with a core containing Kevlar strands for strength and Dacron fibers for space filling, both impregnated with a water-blocking compound, the tether is highly resistant to leaks caused by nicks or rips. The high-visibility yellow polyurethane foam jacket provides abrasion resistance and neutral buoyancy, while the cables stiffness strikes a balance between flexibility and resistance to tangling, offering ample freedom of movement for the ROV.
Note: Ensure proper handling to avoid damage to the tether, which could compromise its water-blocking capabilities.
