The Makerfabs WIFI AC Dimmer Switch is a versatile device designed to regulate the AC cycle. This device is typically employed to adjust the power for lamps or heating elements, but it can also be utilized in fans, pumps, air cleaners, and other appliances.
Unlike many DIY dimmers available online that use Pulse Width Modulation (PWM) to switch the AC on and off, which can cause the lamp to flicker, this product uses a different approach. It incorporates a zero-cross-checking circuit to detect the AC zero-crossing point and then controls the triac to chop the AC, ensuring a smooth and consistent operation.
The circuit of this dimmer is based on the Triac BT139, a high-performance triode for alternating current. To circumvent the issue of AC not being completely shunted off with Triac, a relay is incorporated to switch the AC entirely on or off.
This product also features an onboard AC/DC module, eliminating the need for an external power supply, making it suitable for field applications. It is designed to work with AC 110V~230V, at any frequency, and can handle a maximum load of 2KW.
