The Mini Photocell Light Sensor is a very small photocell. A photocell changes (also called a photo detector, CdS or photoconductive cell) resistance depending on the amount of light it is exposed to. These little sensors make great ambient light triggers.
Non linear response , but still easy to use with microcontrollers or OP Amp comparators.

Does its job well
This sensor does everything its described to do. Gives a fair reading of the different light levels so you should have it fit your needs pretty well. The price and size make it fairly good for any project.
