The Sherline 2-Axis X/Y Manual Machine Slide 18" (Metric) is a precision-engineered component derived from the X/Y base of the Sherline miniature milling machine. This manual machine slide facilitates precise movement along two axes, designated as the X-axis and Y-axis, akin to a milling machine. The Y-axis allows for in-and-out movement of the table, while the X-axis enables side-to-side travel. When mounted vertically, the X-axis remains the same, but the vertical movement is referred to as the Z-axis.
Constructed from high-quality 6061-T6 aluminum, the slide is finished with a durable black anodized coating, ensuring longevity and resistance to wear. The machine slide features precision-rolled steel leadscrews, which are integral to its operation, and these are designed to be adjustable to minimize backlash. The dovetailed tables and saddles are equipped with adjustable gibs, which serve to eliminate any play, thereby enhancing the precision of the machine.
The handwheels on this metric slide are graduated in increments of 0.01 mm, allowing for meticulous adjustments. The slide is equipped with mounting provisions, including four 1/4-20 holes on the base's bottom, spaced on 2-inch centers, and slots for angle clamps, providing flexibility in installation. The machine slide can support a weight capacity of approximately 10 lbs, contingent on the weight's location and the table length.
Note: It is advised not to use WD40 as a lubricant on this machine slide.
