The Waveshare USB to RS232/485 Serial Converter, FT232RNL is a versatile communication tool that facilitates the connection between USB and RS232 or RS485 interfaces. The device features an onboard TVS to effectively suppress surge and transient spike voltages, providing lightning and electrostatic protection. Additionally, it includes self-recovery fuse and protection diodes for stable current and voltage outputs, as well as over-current and over-voltage protection to improve shock resistance.

This serial converter is designed with an onboard RS232/485 communication switching circuit, which can be configured via a switch, and a 120R terminal resistor on the RS485 interface that can be enabled or disabled as needed.
